The meeting was opened at 4:03 P.M. by President Joyce.

Minutes

  • Phillips moved to accept the minutes from the March regular meeting as presented. Butler seconded. Motion carried.

Financial Report
Culp gave the financial report:

  • Operating Fund expenditures April 12 through May 9, 2019 were $91,740.02. Expenditures from all funds were $105,293.97. Operating Fund receipts were $2855.97. Receipts to all funds were $14,264.13. Balance in the Operating Fund as of May 9 was $674,015.00. Total bank balance was $1,196,943.91.

  • There were 2 checks over $6000:

    • $10,119.12 to Jefferson County Treasurer for health insurance premiums ($7940.60 paid by Library).

    • $10,613 to Selective Insurance for annual commercial package and worker’s comp.

Phillips moved to accept the financial report as presented.  Butler seconded. Motion carried.

Director’s report
Terpening reported the following:

Adult Programming

  • 30 events with 449 attendees.

  • Oil painting class total participation for the series was 241.

Teen Programming

  • 6 events with 13 attendees.

  • Finger loop braiding was the most popular.

Youth Services

  • 23 events with 683 attendees.

  • Eggstravaganza at the Lanier Mansion had 150 attendees.

Circulation

  • Circulation spreadsheet now has Facebook “likes” and Newsletter subscribers.

  • We had an increase in visitors to the Library.

Building/Grounds

  • Madison roof is finished and waiting for inspection by the adjuster.

  • We have two estimates for redoing the sunroom at Hanover and we are awaiting a third.

Technology

  • E-rate Category 2 funding has been approved by USAC. AdTech will file the appropriate forms then Midwest Data will order the hardware for the upgrade.

Programming

  • Summer reading kicks off June 3 with “Touch-A-Truck.” We have received permission from the City to close off Elm Street from 8:00 A.M. until noon for the event.

Legislative Update

  • Terpening gave an update on HEA 1001 and HEA 1343 and how they affect libraries.

Friends of the Library

  • Spring Book Sale will be May 17-19.

Correspondence

  • A patron sent a thank you note mentioning staff members who helped him retrieve and print several documents.

Continuing Business

  • Riddle made a motion to approve the new Personnel Policy as amended. Butler seconded. Motion carried.

New Business

  • Phillips made a motion to accept the following nominations for 2019-2020 Board officers: Butler will rotate to President, Wurtz will rotate to Vice-President, Rosenberg was appointed Secretary, and Culp was appointed Treasurer, all effective July 1. Joyce seconded. Motion carried.

  • Wurtz made a motion to approve the new Disaster Recovery Plan for Computer Systems as presented. Phillips seconded. Motion carried.
