Youth Services Teen Summer Intern – High School

The Jefferson County Public Library is looking for a teen summer intern to assist our busy children’s department at the Madison Library through the summer. The internship is sixteen hours per week and pays $12/hour, bi weekly. The internship involves assisting the Children’s Librarian in providing library programs for youth of all ages. Other duties include: organizing prizes, using an online program to track summer reading progress, and helping to shelve or straighten book shelves in the children’s department. Training will be provided. The position begins the week of May 19th for orientation and runs approximately through July 31st. Applicants must: be 16-18 years old, have interest in education/leadership/working with kids, be self-motivated, have transportation to/from the Library, must be reliable, on time and must keep supervisor notified about vacations, time off, etc. (Summer is for fun- we can try to schedule around other activities within reason!) Youth Services Summer Intern – College Student

The Jefferson County Public Library is looking for a summer intern to provide support for our busy children’s department at the Madison Library through the summer. We are looking for a college student with good customer service skills who also pays attention to details. Responsibilities involve assisting the library staff with programs for youth ages 0-18 years, assisting patrons, answering phones and fulfilling information requests using the Library’s online catalog. Applicants must be willing to submit to a criminal background check. Position begins May 20th and runs through July 31st. The internship is 24hrs per week and pays $13/hr.
