Get a Library Card

You can apply for a library card online by clicking here. The card will be entered into the system and you will be notified to stop by and pick it up!

Jefferson County residents and property owners are eligible for a free Jefferson County Public Library card. To obtain a card simply bring a valid government-issued photo ID to the Circulation Desk. The application process takes 5-10 minutes. Minors require the approval of a legal guardian, and property owners living elsewhere require a current property tax bill.

If your photo ID does not have your current address, please bring one of the following, as well:

• housing lease signed within last 30 days

• bank statement, credit card, or utility bill dated within last 30 day

There are several library card options for Indiana Residents living outside the county, too. They may be eligible for a free membership under the Indiana State Library's RECIPROCAL BORROWER COVENANT. Other options are PLAC memberships or purchasing an individual Library membership.

Trimble County, KY residents may purchase a membership. Likewise, Jefferson County, IN residents may purchase a membership at the Trimble County Library.
