The meeting was opened at 4:02 P.M. by President Joyce.
Minutes
Wurtz moved to accept the minutes from the March regular meeting as presented. Butler seconded. Motion carried.
Financial Report
Culp gave the financial report:
Operating Fund expenditures Mach 15 through April 11, 2019 were $84,994.85. Expenditures from all funds totaled $97,772.07. Operating Fund receipts totaled $3497.54. Receipts to all funds totaled $19,153.71. Balance in the Operating Fund as of April 11 was $762,636.81. Total bank balance was $1,287,711.51.
There was 1 check over $6000:
$10,119.12 to Jefferson County Treasurer for health insurance premiums ($7940.60 paid by Library).
Riddle moved to accept the financial report as presented. Rosenberg seconded. Motion carried.
Director’s report
Terpening reported the following:
Adult Programming
26 events with 304 attendees.
Madisonians Abroad travel series had 115 total attendees over a six-month period.
The four Oil Painting classes had 81 attendees and ended with an exhibit of their work.
Russ Vossler will do a Drawing Class series beginning in April and running until June.
Teen Programming
3 events with 23 attendees.
Youth Services
14 events with 584 attendees.
Miss Hanna’s Puppet Party had 81 attendees.
Circulation
Materials increased by over 1100.
New library card sign-ups were up to 110.
All 5th graders at Madison Jr. High were given a library card.
Building and Grounds
Hanover roof is one except the cupola which will be a separate job.
Madison roof replacements are done but the gutters have not been replaced yet.
Hanover drainage work has been completed.
Hanover sunroom remodel estimates have been received.
Staff
We will be participating in the Indiana Intern program this summer. We have hired a college student to work full-time in the Children’s Department and half of her pay will be reimbursed by the State.
Training
Terpening, McAlister, Lathrem, Joslin, and Stenger attended the Evergreen Annual Conference in March. Some of the topics discussed were:
Auto renewals; we are doing the pilot program at our Library.
Fine-free libraries; some Evergreen libraries are already doing this.
Customizable receipts; we now have our library logo printed on the receipts as well as a message telling the patrons how much money they saved by using the library.
Programming
National Library Week is April 7-13. We served cookies and coffee at Madison and Hanover all day on Wednesday, April 10th which is also 9th birthday of the Hanover Branch.

New Business
Riddle made a motion to approve the updated Borrower Services Policy as presented. Rosenberg seconded. Motion carried.
An updated Personnel Policy was presented to the Board for review. The Personnel Committee will meet before the May meeting and report back to the Board.
